Spectator as verb or noun?

So as I contemplate the word, I wonder where I stand. Do I spectate, as in sit back and watch. To take in the situation. To even cheer for those that do, or perhaps do not. The noun would be the rock. The rock that doesn't move but sees milenia of experiences. The active, the now is to experience it all, at the same time. I'm up for that.
